Terms of Service

Last updated: October 5, 2026

Welcome to Yama. After signing in, review these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy to use your account.

Who Can Use Yama

Yama is intended for fitness instructors and students aged 13 and older. By using the app, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and all activity that occurs under it. Please notify us immediately at support@yama.fit if you suspect unauthorized access.

Your Content and Ownership

You retain full ownership of all sequences, cues, and content you create in Yama ("Your Content"). We do not claim any ownership of Your Content. By using the app, you grant us only a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, and display Your Content as needed to provide the service to you. When you accept the in-app agreement described below and use an AI-assisted feature, you also authorize us to send the content needed for that feature to the third-party AI services described in our Privacy Policy.

Your Content is private to your account unless you choose to make it accessible to others. Each sequence and your profile has a visibility setting that you control. When you set a sequence or your profile to public, or share a sequence through a public link, you grant us and other users a limited license to view and access that content for as long as you keep it public. Setting it back to private, or deleting it, ends that access going forward, though copies others already saved or that remain in caches may persist. Making content public does not transfer ownership — Your Content remains yours.

You are responsible for Your Content, and you represent that you have the rights to it. You may not upload content that infringes on the intellectual property rights of others or violates any applicable law.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Templates and Curated Content

All sequence templates and curated content provided by Yama have been legally obtained or created with proper authorization. This content is provided for personal, non-commercial use within the app only.

AI-Assisted Features

After account sign-in, the in-app agreement asks you to accept these Terms and the Privacy Policy and explicitly allow Yama to send the data described there to OpenAI for AI-assisted planning. Accounts that have already accepted the current agreement are not asked again. Class descriptions, pose names, selected studio templates, relevant sequence references, note photos or scans, and voice recordings may be sent for the specific feature you request. Your content may include personal details you choose to enter, show, or say. The exact provider for each feature, processing, and retention are explained in our Privacy Policy. Accepting the agreement does not send anything to an AI provider by itself. You can withdraw data-sharing consent in Account → Terms and Privacy, which signs you out. To use Yama again, you must accept the agreement.

AI-generated sequences and transcriptions may contain mistakes or omissions. Review and edit them before teaching or practicing, and use your professional judgment when selecting poses, cues, and modifications. AI-assisted output is subject to the Health and Safety terms below.

Health and Safety

Yama provides general yoga, movement, and fitness information for educational and instructional purposes. Yama is a planning and teaching aid, not a healthcare provider, and its sequences, poses, cues, modifications, and other content are not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. They are not a substitute for advice from a physician or other qualified healthcare professional, or for appropriate in-person instruction.

Physical activity involves inherent risks, including the risk of injury. Before beginning or changing an exercise program, consult a qualified healthcare professional, particularly if you are pregnant, have an injury or medical condition, take medication that may affect physical activity, or have concerns about whether an activity is appropriate for you. Do not disregard professional medical advice because of information available through Yama.

Listen to your body, work within your experience and abilities, use appropriate props or modifications, and stop immediately if you experience pain, dizziness, faintness, shortness of breath beyond normal exertion, or other discomfort. If symptoms are severe or concerning, seek prompt medical attention.

Instructors who use Yama remain solely responsible for their professional judgment, class planning, supervision, cueing, and adapting instruction to each student's abilities, health conditions, and needs. Yama does not verify an instructor's qualifications or determine whether any sequence, pose, or cue is safe or suitable for a particular person.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, you choose to participate in physical activity at your own risk and remain responsible for using Yama safely and appropriately.

Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time if you violate these Terms or engage in conduct harmful to other users or the platform.

You may permanently delete your account at any time directly in the app, under Account → Delete Account. Deletion is immediate and permanent, removes Your Content and profile, and cannot be undone. If you cannot access the app, you may also request deletion by contacting us at support@yama.fit.

Disclaimer of Warranties

Yama is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or meet your specific requirements.

Without limiting the Health and Safety section above, we do not warrant that any sequence, pose, cue, modification, recommendation, or other fitness content is accurate, complete, or suitable for a particular person or purpose.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Yama and its founders shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Sanskrit Pose Names and Nomenclature

Sanskrit pose names in Yama are drawn from traditional hatha yoga nomenclature, classical texts, and established reference works. When a pose has a recognized Sanskrit name, we use the accepted Romanized transliteration without diacritics and standardize spelling and spacing across the library.

Names from specific modern traditions, including Iyengar, Ashtanga Vinyasa, and the Bihar School of Yoga, follow the naming conventions used in those lineages. Numbered variations and preparatory forms are treated as distinct poses.

Some movements, including Pilates-based, aerial, chair-supported, prop-assisted, and contemporary poses, do not have traditional Sanskrit names. These are listed in English only. Sanskrit names are provided for identification and education, and other valid transliterations may exist.
